Wills and Trusts

We work hard our entire lives to provide for our family.  Why let the state of Tennessee decide who gets what when you are gone and, more importantly, who cares for your minor children?  That is your decision and it is a decision your loved ones will appreciate.  I offer flat fees for preparing most wills and trusts.  Call today to schedule a time to discuss your final wishes.

Living Wills/Advanced Care Directives

Often times, family members are left to decide the medical treatment their ill loved one receives.  These are difficult decisions to make each and every time.  Maintain control over these important decisions and take this burden off of your family by preparing advanced care directives.  These documents will detail the medical treatment you want, or do not want, to receive in the event you become physically unable to tell your care providers yourself.  This will include whether you want to receive life support, feeding tubes or be resuscitated.  You can also appoint a designated person of your choosing to make any other medical decisions for you.

Powers of Attorney

In its most basic sense, a power of attorney is a legal document which gives someone else the right to act on your behalf.  Powers of attorney can be as broad or as limited as you want them to be.  You may never realize how important a power of attorney is until you find yourself in a position where you need one - and then, depending on your condition, you may not be able to sign a power of attorney.  This is another document I prepare at affordable flat rates.  Rest easier at night knowing that your affairs will be handled in accordance with your wishes when you are unable to handle them yourself.

When your loved one passes away, you may need to probate their estate to be able to gather their assets, pay their debts and taxes and distribute their assets in accordance with their will.  There are three different types of probate in Tennessee. Many people don't understand the probate process and are not aware that they may be able to wrap up an estate quicker than expected depending on the size of the estate.  If you have questions about the probate process, contact us today.
