Amanda Jelks Recognized as Best Attorney at the Black Excellence of Chattanooga Awards

Chattanooga, Tenn. (February, 26 2020) – Attorney Amanda Jelks has been named “Best Attorney” by Chattanooga Business Elite. The award was presented to Jelks at the 1st Annual Black Excellence of Chattanooga Awards on February 9 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The ceremony was held to recognize and celebrate successful minority entrepreneurs, minority-owned businesses, and community organizations that are making a great impact in the Chattanooga community.

“With all the legal talent in Chattanooga, it is indeed an honor to be recognized as the ‘best' in the industry,” said Amanda Jelks.

Amanda is the founder of Jelks Law, PLLC where she and her team assist individuals and families with estate planning, probate, and business matters. She is licensed in Tennessee and Georgia.

Outside of being recognized by Chattanooga Business Elite, Amanda has received numerous awards and honors over the past eight years including Emerging Business of the Year Award by the Urban League of Chattanooga; Rising Star in Business Law by Super Lawyers;Top 20 Under 40 Young Professionals in Chattanooga Award by Chatter Magazine and Chattanooga Times Free Press; and Pro Bono Excellence Award Recipient from Legal Aid of East Tennessee.

Aside from her legal practice, Amanda has a heart for women's issues, community service and mentoring. In 2017, she was unanimously appointed by the City Council to the City of Chattanooga's Health, Education and Housing Facilities Board for a six-year term. She's currently serving on the board of the Chattanooga Women's Leadership Institute helping shape women's opportunities and the Diversity and Inclusion Board for the Chamber of Commerce. She also regularly volunteers with The Company Lab and Launch to provide new entrepreneurs a real-world view of business ownership.

A Chattanooga native, Jelks earned degrees from both the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and The Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.
